Meet the Designer of Artisan Walk
The Luxury Home & Design Show is pleased to invite award-winning international architect Timothy Bullinger to design its Artisan Walk. The Artisan Walk will be a featured area that will showcase artisans from around the globe.
With offices in Hong Kong and Beverly Hills, Vancouver-native Bullinger has a fabulous roster of clients. He has designed for a long list of celebrities, including Phil Collins, Georges Marciano, Vidal Sassoon and Rip Taylor.
“There is a new luxury and we want to showcase how global artisanship has been re-contextualized and re-valued through the partnership of tradition and cutting-edge design,” he says. “Ultimately the Luxury Home & Design Show will be the intersection of craftsmanship, luxury business and philanthropy.”
The idea behind the Artisan Walk is to have artisans display not only the fruits of their labour, but also to show the unique tools and techniques of their trade. Several artisans will give us a glimpse into their workshops, a rare opportunity to see how famed luxury goods are made and to become acquainted with the stories behind these treasured objects.
Among the artisanal companies featured on the Walk is Stefano Bemer. The company’s CEO Tommaso Melani will fly from Florence, along with artisans from his workshop, to share with guests the spirit of craftsmanship behind some of the finest handmade men’s shoes.
You can order a pair of bespoke shoes of superb made-in-Italy quality, and watch them being crafted right in front of you in Vancouver. This is truly the experience of Italy, of the birthplace of the Renaissance, that is the 2018 Luxury Home & Design Show’s theme.
“When you are born and raised in Florence, some standards of beauty and refinement become part of who you are,” Melani says. “That happens to also affect the way you look at craft in general.”
